CBRN Basic Course

Training with Modern Simulation Devices

Last weekend, firefighters from the Coesfeld district in Germany took part in a training session as part of the CBRN Basic Course, focusing on operational scenarios involving radioactive materials.

Across multiple training stations, participants practiced using radiation detection instruments, locating radiation sources, and identifying radiological contamination.

To ensure safe yet realistic conditions, the exercises used simulation devices from NUVIATech Instruments. These specially adapted systems respond to either radio signals (dose rate meter: DolMo SIM) or magnetic fields (contamination monitor: CoMo SIM), enabling highly immersive training without the need for actual radioactive substances.

This training is part of the broader CBRN Basic Course, through which firefighters develop essential skills for responding to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards.
